June 22-24 in Nizhnevartovsk there was a visiting meeting of the Izborsk club. It decided to open the Arctic branch of this expert organization in Ugra.

Why Arctic? Yes, because our territory is of interest to experts precisely from the point of view of mastering these extreme latitudes. And if it used to be said that Russia’s wealth will grow in Siberia, today we are talking about the Arctic.

Steady interest in the Arctic, both the scientific plan and the historical-geographic formed a long time ago. This land attracted and called enthusiasts, scientists, military and ordinary people. And this curiosity is fully justified. The Arctic occupies about a sixth of the Earth’s surface.

Two-thirds of the Arctic territory falls on the Arctic Ocean, the smallest ocean in the world. Most of the ocean surface throughout the year is covered with ice (average thickness of 3 m) and is not navigable. About 4 million people live on this gigantic territory. By the way, the very word “Arctic” has a Greek origin and means “the country or territory of a large bear”.

The visiting session of the club members for representatives of local and regional mass media was opened by the press conference, where it was noted that the main purpose of this meeting is a strategic analysis of the research potential of developing and studying the Arctic in the interests of our state, as well as the opening of the Arctic branch of the Izborsk club in Ugra at the expedition site “The Northern Troopers.”

Under this name will be a summer shift of the military-sports camp for children’s daytime stay in Nizhnevartovsk. The camp is intended for the organization of military-patriotic education of schoolchildren whose relevance has significantly increased because of the weakening of the prestige of the Armed Forces in Russian society, the growing importance of preparation for military service for young people of pre-conscription age, the lack of ideology on the state level, on the basis of which youth initiatives and project tasks.

The organizer and ideological inspirer of the military sports camp of the “Future Northern Assault” is the leader of the snowmobile expedition “Northern Troopers”, Alexander Peterman, for whom the motto of the program “NOBODY, EXCEPT US!” Since the time of the service in the amphibious forces became a personal life principle
