Dixon is the northernmost locality of Russia. It is located on the rocky island of the same name and on the shore of the Yenisei Gulf of the Kara Sea. Sea port. The Dixon district is an arctic desert with a harsh climate (the settlement is located beyond the Arctic Circle, on permafrost).
Now the village is in a deplorable state, the population is 632 people (2009), whereas in 2004 there were 1113 people in Dixon, and in 1985 – about 5 thousand.
Extreme location attracts visitors – Dixon is visited by quite a large number of people, although it is not easy to get there. Creative people have written many songs about Dixon. In one of them the village is called the “Capital of the Arctic” – now it is the unofficial name of Dixon.
